On October 1, a delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Minister Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov, participated in a regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states in Dushanbe.
During the event, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the heads of delegations.
The parties discussed measures to combat terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and organized crime at an international level, as well as ways to enhance cooperation in cybersecurity, combat illegal immigration, and ensure tourist safety. In his remarks, the President of Tajikistan emphasized the importance of further strengthening regional solidarity and coordinated approaches among the CIS countries in economic, political, and law enforcement cooperation.
Following the meeting, the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs began its agenda.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the internal affairs ministries of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Bureau for Coordinating the Fight against Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Crimes, the CIS Executive Committee and the Anti-Terrorism Center.
The participants discussed priority areas of multilateral and bilateral cooperation within the CIS, as well as issues related to the implementation of the Interstate Program of Joint Measures to Combat Crime for 2029–2033, adopted by the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states.
The meeting included the signing of relevant documents related to cooperation in the electronic exchange of information among law enforcement agencies, the sharing of genomic data for crime prevention, the improvement of documents related to illegal migration, the conduct of interstate searches for individuals, and the development of cooperation to combat transnational crimes, including those committed with information and communication technologies.
An important initiative proposed by Uzbekistan on the organization of meetings of the heads of cybercrime units within the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States was unanimously approved and signed by Council members.
Taking into account the transnational nature of modern cybercrime, the initiative is aimed at establishing direct and reliable communication between the heads of operational units and reducing bureaucratic procedures.
Regular meetings will facilitate the exchange of experience, the analysis of threats in the field of information technologies, and the development of effective measures for combating transnational crime in cyberspace.
Following a friendly and constructive meeting, the parties agreed to expand their cooperation at the institutional level and implement joint projects to achieve practical outcomes.
