The Senate of the Oliy Majlis held an international conference on combating human trafficking

A conference entitled "Combating Human Trafficking in a Changing World: Prevention, Protection and Cooperation", dedicated to July 30 - World Day Against Human Trafficking, was held at the Oliy Majlis Senate.
It was jointly organized by the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Combating Human Trafficking and Decent Work and the International Organization for Migration (IOM/UN Migration).
The conference provided an important international forum for dialogue, bringing together participants to discuss emerging global challenges and identify priority areas for cooperation between national and regional authorities.
The event was attended by representatives of government agencies, law enforcement bodies, the judiciary, international organizations, the diplomatic corps, civil society institutions, experts, and representatives of Central Asian countries.
The conference participants discussed current challenges in combating human trafficking, including emerging threats related to digital technologies, online recruitment platforms, fraudulent schemes, and the activities of transnational criminal networks.
It was noted that the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan, "On Additional Measures Aimed at Radically Improving the System for Identifying Victims of Human Trafficking and Their Integration into Society," adopted yesterday, introduces a new system for the early identification of trafficking victims, assessing their needs, and providing comprehensive social, legal, psychological, and medical assistance.
During the conference, Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov, Chairman of the Sub-Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, presented a report on human trafficking-related crimes and the measures taken to combat them during the first six months of this year.
Following the conference, a Communiqué was adopted outlining priority areas for the prevention of human trafficking, protecting victims, addressing digital threats, and strengthening practical cooperation among Central Asian countries.
