A dangerous fugitive who had been evading justice for an extended period of time was extradited from the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Uzbekistan as a result of coordinated efforts by the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and effective international cooperation through Interpol channels.

The National Central Bureau of Interpol in the Republic of Uzbekistan played the central coordinating role throughout the extradition process. The Bureau has consistently made efforts to establish prompt information exchanges with the National Central Interpol Bureau in Cairo, monitor the international search closely, and coordinate effective cooperation between the competent authorities of both countries through its consistent efforts.

Further, the Bureau ensured timely submission of the necessary documents in order to detain and extradite the individual, who had been placed on the international wanted list at Uzbekistan's request on charges of extortion and a number of serious crimes.

The National Central Bureau of Interpol identified the fugitive's cross-border movements and confirmed his presence in the Arab Republic of Egypt as part of the international search operation. By exchanging information through Interpol channels, the Egyptian authorities were able to locate and detain the wanted individual.

Following consideration of Uzbekistan’s extradition request, the competent authorities of the Arab Republic of Egypt approved the extradition of the fugitive.

Following the completion of all required international legal procedures, the individual was handed over to officers of the National Central Bureau of Interpol in the Republic of Uzbekistan and returned to the country to be prosecuted under Uzbekistan's criminal law.

The extradition once again demonstrates the effectiveness of international police cooperation mechanisms and the close working relationship between the Uzbekistan Central Bureau of Interpol and foreign law enforcement agencies.

The National Central Bureau of Interpol in Uzbekistan continues its systematic efforts to locate fugitives, strengthen international cooperation, and ensure that individuals wanted for criminal offences are brought to justice regardless of the country in which they are found.
