The leadership of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs visited the Mirabad district of Tashkent to review the work being done to create a safe environment in local mahallas.
During the visit, responsible officials, community representatives, and master's students assigned to the area discussed the implementation of priority tasks related to public safety and crime prevention.
An assessment of measures to improve public safety was conducted in the "Altinkul" mahalla, which is home to approximately 6,000 residents living in 1,365 households. Several surveillance cameras and panic buttons have been installed and integrated into the security system to address factors affecting criminogenic activity. To support targeted prevention measures, a list of individuals who require special attention, including those who have been convicted in the past and those who are at high risk of committing offenses, has been developed.
The participants discussed the most common types of crime, their underlying causes, appeals received through the "102" emergency service, ongoing social prevention efforts, youth and women's employment, and other priority issues. Specific tasks were identified to facilitate efforts aimed at strengthening public safety.
The Head of the Academy also visited the "Istiklolobod" mahalla, where he reviewed a presentation on measures to stabilize the crime situation and shared proposals on improving public safety and early offense prevention.
Due to the high number of offenses occurring at night, particular attention was paid to strengthening patrol activities, raising citizens' awareness of the law, expanding video surveillance coverage, deploying additional personnel and resources to high-risk areas, and resolving citizens' concerns and appeals in a timely manner.
During the visit, the viewpoints of responsible officials and members of the mahalla "seven" were also heard. Measures and practical mechanisms were identified to address the issues that require further action.
