The United States and Uzbekistan held a meeting to strengthen their cooperation

On June 24, 2026, the Research Institute of Criminology of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a delegation from the United States led by Mr. Kyle Ojima, Program Coordinator for Central Asia at the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Department of State.
During the meeting, representatives of the Institute presented its history, key areas of activity, cooperation with international and foreign organizations in the field of criminology, partnerships with research institutions, and experiences conducting joint scientific and practical research.
Members of the U.S. delegation highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s efforts in the early prevention of crime, the scientific study of crime trends and contributing factors, the implementation of research projects, and the development of legislative initiatives and preventive mechanisms.
The parties also discussed expanding cooperation with leading foreign criminology institutions, including the Florida State University Center for Criminology and Public Policy Research, the Ohio Center for Criminological Research, and the American Society of Criminology, as well as strengthening collaboration with relevant U.S. organizations in the field of criminological research and analysis.
During the meeting, the INL delegation expressed its willingness to cooperate in implementing recommendations developed based on criminological research.
