The Ministry of Internal Affairs held a videoconference to discuss priority tasks for the prevention of crime and public safety

The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov, hosted a videoconference meeting in order to review ongoing activities within the internal affairs system, to assess current challenges, and to determine priority tasks aimed at strengthening public safety and combating crime. Existing shortcomings were critically reviewed, and practical measures were outlined to further improve performance and enhance public security.
The meeting focused largely on organizing security measures for the Fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum, which is scheduled to take place from June 16 to 18. In addition to being one of the largest business events in the region, the forum is also the country's most important investment platform.
It is expected to bring together more than 8,000 participants from 99 countries, including approximately 3,100 international visitors.
The event will host high-level government officials, representatives of foreign states, leading international financial institutions, major companies, investment funds, and members of the global business community. In this regard, specific responsibilities were assigned to the relevant leaders and personnel involved in maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of participants. Additionally, comprehensive security measures and service control mechanisms were approved.
In accordance with the meeting agenda, special attention was given to the fight against drug-related crime and drug addiction prevention.
In particular, the issue of implementing the tasks outlined in Presidential Decree No. 207 “On comprehensive measures to effectively protect the health of the population and the gene pool of the nation from drug addiction and drug crimes” was analyzed and the tasks to be implemented were determined.
The meeting emphasized the need to strengthen legal, operational, preventive, organizational, and educational measures aimed at combating drug trafficking and related offenses. Responsible officials were instructed to intensify efforts to identify and eliminate organized criminal networks involved in the illegal drug trade and to further enhance preventive work among the population.
A review of the current state of cybercrime prevention efforts was also conducted. An emphasis was placed on preventing and detecting online fraud and other crimes committed using digital technologies. A critical evaluation of existing shortcomings in this area was conducted, and concrete tasks were assigned to improve operational effectiveness and enhance cybersecurity measures.
Further, participants reviewed the criminogenic situation across the country and analyzed the serious crimes reported during the first ten days of June. Additional preventive measures were identified as a result of the findings in order to reduce crime and maintain public safety.
Following the meeting, certain instructions were given regarding combating crime, preventing violations, ensuring the safety of citizens, and strengthening service discipline, with the emphasis that strict control would be implemented to ensure their implementation.
