As a result of a joint operation conducted by the Tashkent Regional Department of Internal Affairs and the Regional Department of the State Security Service, a human trafficking attempt was successfully prevented, protecting a young woman from becoming a victim of exploitation abroad.
The investigation revealed that a 25-year-old woman from Angren, Tashkent region, colluded with acquaintances living in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, to gain the trust of a woman living in Mirzachul district, Jizzakh region, and attempted to deceive her into travelling abroad.
The suspect convinced the woman that there were several vacancies with her acquaintances abroad, where she could earn a living. She was sent to Dubai for "sexual extradition" and prostitution through Tashkent International Airport when she was detained by the participants of the event with evidence.
Preliminary findings also indicate that another citizen of Uzbekistan residing in Dubai was expected to receive and meet the victim upon her arrival.
A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under Article 135, Part 2, Subparagraphs “d” and “k” of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Investigative actions are currently undertaken. Also, measures are being taken to determine the identity of other persons involved in the crime and involve them in the investigation.
