The Regional Adviser for Central Asia of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights visited the MIA Academy

The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs hosted a meeting with Omer Fischer, Regional Adviser for Central Asia at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. During the dialogue, the parties exchanged views on expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest, promoting human rights education, and supporting initiatives that contribute to regional security and sustainable development.
Rustam Khatamov, the Head of the Academy, welcomed the guest and highlighted the dynamic development of relations between Uzbekistan and the United Nations in recent years. He stated that multilateral cooperation is gaining importance in the implementation of national goals in sustainable development.
In response, Omer Fischer praised the democratic reforms that are being implemented in Uzbekistan and noted their positive effects on strengthening human dignity, improving the well-being of citizens, and promoting the principles of justice and the rule of law. He expressed confidence that these reforms are creating a solid foundation for the continued development of a modern and prosperous New Uzbekistan.
Furthermore, the meeting focused on prospects for deepening cooperation in the educational field. Within the framework of the fifth phase of the World Programme for Human Rights Education, the parties discussed the implementation of joint educational initiatives, measures to enhance faculty members' and trainees' professional capacities, and opportunities for cooperation.
During his visit to the Academy, Omer Fischer was highly impressed by the Academy's modern educational environment, innovative teaching methods, and advanced methods of preparing highly qualified specialists for law enforcement agencies. Additionally, he expressed interest in the Academy's future development plans and efforts to align training programs with international standards.
