On May 11–15, the city of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, hosted a pre-operational meeting and regional training session within the framework of the international INTERPOL operation “Trigger X – Europe and Central Asia,” aimed at combating firearm trafficking and related transnational crimes.
The event was organized by the General Secretariat of INTERPOL with the support of the European Union under the “iARMS V” project.
The forum brought together representatives of law enforcement agencies from European and Central Asian countries, as well as officials from the National Central Bureau of INTERPOL. Officers from the National Central Bureau of Interpol under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and specialists from the Main Forensics Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs represented the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The meeting was an opportunity for participants to share their views on current threats associated with the illicit trafficking of firearms, discuss international cooperation mechanisms, and coordinate joint measures aimed at strengthening regional security.
Experts from the General Secretariat of INTERPOL conducted practical sessions on the effective use of the iARMS system, international firearms tracing procedures, investigating firearms-related crimes, and using modern forensic instruments in criminal investigations as part of the regional training program.
It was an excellent opportunity for the Uzbek delegation to exchange practical experience with international partners and to study foreign approaches to combating the illegal circulation of firearms and related transnational crimes.
