On May 13, Tashkent hosted the opening of the next meeting of the heads of crime-fighting structures of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), bringing together representatives of partner countries to strengthen regional security cooperation and coordinate crime prevention efforts.
Opening the event, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov, welcomed the delegations of the CIS member states, as well as representatives of the Bureau for Coordination of Combating Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Crimes in the CIS, and expressed gratitude for their participation in the meeting.
The event highlighted the fact that under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, important initiatives are consistently being advanced in the region to combat crime, particularly addressing modern drug-related threats. Hence, the meeting was seen as a practical continuation of the recent international conference on fighting transnational drug threats in order to ensure public health and safety.
In recent years, cooperation among the Ministries of Internal Affairs of CIS countries has significantly improved as a result of enhanced mutual understanding, active information exchange, and coordination of operational-search activities at an international level.
Joint efforts are producing positive results in the fight against transnational organized crime, illicit drug trafficking, and the activities of international criminal groups, contributing to the preservation of peace and stability in the region.
Additionally, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the prospects for expanding long-term cooperation and implementing new joint security initiatives.
Participants are expected to engage in comprehensive discussions regarding the challenges of transnational organized crime, drug-related offenses, and other pressing security issues during the event.
