Uzbekistan's National Central Bureau of Interpol (NCB) and international partners have successfully extradited a wanted person from Peru to Uzbekistan through close cooperation.
The individual, a citizen of Turkey, had been placed on the international wanted list by Uzbekistan’s law enforcement agencies for committing large-scale fraud. He was located and detained in Peru while attempting to evade investigative authorities.
A coordinated effort between the NCBs of Interpol in Tashkent and Lima, as well as the active support provided by the International Legal Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Justice of Peru, enabled the extradition to be completed. During the transit phase of the extradition process, the competent authorities in France and the United Arab Emirates provided assistance as well.
This operation demonstrates the effectiveness of bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the Interpol framework for combatting transnational crime.
Following his extradition, the suspect was brought to Uzbekistan under the escort of Interpol officers and representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office. According to national law, he will now be subjected to further procedural actions and prosecution.
