On March 24–25, the second meeting of the Uzbek–Russian interdepartmental working group on migration issues was held in Tashkent at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The meeting brought together representatives of the Department of Migration and Personalization under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, along with delegations from relevant ministries and agencies of both countries. The session was co-chaired by Deputy Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan D. Kasimov and Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation P. Gorodov.
The meeting held at the Prosecutor General’s Office highlighted the significant coordinating role of prosecutorial authorities in ensuring legality and strengthening interstate cooperation in migration.
During the discussion, the attendees reviewed the current migration situation, identified existing challenges, and explored practical solutions. Particular attention was given to issues related to labor migration, the protection of migrants’ rights, and the further development of bilateral cooperation.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop joint measures aimed at ensuring legality in migration processes while taking both countries' interests into account.
