On February 13, the Ministry of Internal Affairs held a meeting with Kari Johnstone, Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), to discuss expanding cooperation in the fight against human trafficking.
Kari Johnstone visited Uzbekistan on February 12–13 to participate in the seminar “Combating Human Trafficking in Uzbekistan with the Use of Technology,” organized at the Law Enforcement Academy.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current regional and global trends in combating organized crime. This included trafficking in persons linked to migration and sexual exploitation. Special attention was given to the effective use of information technologies in preventing and detecting such crimes, as well as to strengthening cooperation with OSCE participating States.
At the constructive and friendly meeting, the sides reviewed areas of mutual interest and outlined future steps to further develop partnership and enhance joint efforts in combating human trafficking.
