On December 12, an official ceremony took place at the Regional Office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), marking the handover of advanced technical equipment to the Main Forensics Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This initiative is part of the UN project titled “Study of the Interrelationship between Terrorism, Firearms, and Crime: Preventing and Combating the Illicit Trafficking of Firearms and Light Weapons and Their Illicit Delivery to Terrorists,” which is jointly implemented by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and the UN Office on Counter-Terrorism.
The event was attended by representatives of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as senior officials from the Main Center for Expert Forensics of the Ministry.
During the ceremony, it was emphasized that the newly delivered equipment will significantly contribute to strengthening the material and technical capacity of the ballistic laboratory, enhancing the quality and efficiency of forensic examinations and research, and further expanding international cooperation in the fight against the illicit trafficking of firearms and light weapons.
UNODC has provided consistent and systematic support to national law enforcement agencies by transferring this equipment once again.
