As part of the Presidential Decree to strengthen public resilience against cyberattacks, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan has declared November to be "Cyber Culture Promotion Month".
A press conference was held at the Tashkent Regional Department of Internal Affairs in support of this initiative with the participation of representatives of the media, journalists, bloggers, and leaders of a variety of organisations and businesses.
During the event, the regional MDIA leadership and experts provided detailed information on the purpose of the month-long campaign, ongoing activities, and current challenges in the cyber sphere.
According to the report, a majority of cybercrimes registered in the region today are related to malicious links, fake payment platforms, fraudulent cryptocurrency exchanges, online loan scams, and telephone fraud.
Considering these risks, the speakers emphasized the importance of increasing cyber awareness among the general population, following cyber hygiene rules, and notifying law enforcement agencies whenever suspicious activity is detected.
Following the event, the experts answered questions from participants.
Moreover, a series of events will be held throughout the month, including competitions for the “Best Content,” “Most Popular Challenge,” “Most Effective Video,” “Cyber-Literate Mahalla,” “Best Essay,” and “Best Innovative Approach.” Additionally, online IT Olympiads, cybersecurity training sessions, and expert-citizen meetings will be organized. At the end of November, the winners of the contests will be recognized and awarded.
