A regular meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was held with the participation of heads of sectoral services and regional internal affairs bodies, which focused on implementing the priority tasks set by the Head of State to maintain a stable criminogenic situation throughout the country.
In recent years, large-scale reforms have been consistently carried out to strengthen public safety and enhance the effectiveness of internal affairs bodies. In the past three months alone, four laws, one presidential decree, and nine important resolutions have been adopted.
The regional leaders visited Tashkent in advance of the meeting to study advanced practices being implemented in the capital. A number of modern solutions were introduced to them, including the artificial intelligence-based "Smart District" platform and the "Safe District" system in Mirzo Ulugbek district, as well as the widely used "Capital Experience" in Chilanzar district. Based on these examples, participants proposed concrete measures to further reduce crime in their mahallas.
The Board meeting, chaired by Minister of Internal Affairs Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov, brought together members of the Board, heads of sectoral and territorial divisions, and prevention inspectors. The discussions focused on the crime situation during the first quarter of 2026, results achieved in crime detection and prevention, and existing challenges in ensuring public safety.
It was noted that 83.8 percent of preventable crimes were detected during the reporting period, with a 37.1 percent increase in overall crime detection rates. In addition, 2,193 individuals wanted by courts and investigative bodies were apprehended, while 1,187 missing persons were located and safely returned to their families.
Further progress has been made in combating drug-related crime as a result of ongoing operational-preventive measures: 872 kilograms of illegal narcotics and nearly 297,000 units of potent substances have been seized, and 12 clandestine laboratories have been demolished.
As part of the implementation of the "Year of Combating Cybercrime" initiative, special attention was paid to the fight against cybercrime. It was estimated that 3,554 cybercrimes were discovered in the first three months, including 1,125 detected proactively. Over 5,000 citizens received compensation for damages totaling nearly 50 billion UZS.
The effectiveness of preventive work at the mahalla level was also reflected in positive indicators. Out of 8,992 mahallas nationwide, 7,309 (81.3 percent) remained crime-free and were classified in the “green” category, while no “red” mahallas were recorded in 99 districts.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the importance of improving the work with citizens' appeals. The ministry received more than 100,000 appeals during the reporting period, of which more than 68,000 were resolved and nearly 12,000 were addressed through legal clarification. The emphasis was placed on strengthening direct engagement with citizens through regular personal and mobile receptions, led personally by senior officials.
As a key priority, digitalization and the expansion of electronic public services were highlighted. Presently, the ministry provides 59 types of public services, including 48 that are available electronically. Approximately 1.5 million services were delivered electronically to citizens in the first quarter alone.
In his remarks, the Minister underscored the importance of strict adherence to service discipline and the rule of law. He noted that every employee must fully recognize their responsibility for serving the public, while leaders must set a personal example.
As part of the meeting, several employees were recognized for their outstanding performance and disciplinary measures were taken against those who demonstrated serious shortcomings.
A review of the activities of departments lagging behind in the areas of crime prevention, public safety, traffic safety, and digital transformation has been conducted, and responsible officials have been given clear and strict instructions to address existing issues without delay.
