The session officially began on April 21, bringing together representatives from member states to review progress in implementing the provisions of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
Uzbekistan was represented by a distinguished delegation that included Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Head of the Investigation Department Ramazon Ashropov, Deputy Director of the National Center for Human Rights Dilnoza Muratova, Senate member Gulnora Marufova, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court Alisher Usmanov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Relations and Citizens Abroad Bekzod Shukurov, Deputy Minister of Preschool and School Education Farkhod Boqiev, as well as other officials.
During the session, Uzbek delegation members presented presentations summarizing the country's efforts under its 12th–14th periodic reports on the implementation of the Convention, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 21, 1965. Also, the delegation provided comprehensive responses to questions from committee members and other participants.
Uzbekistan ratified the Convention on August 31, 1995, and has consistently worked to fulfill its international obligations since then.
