A Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between the Senate Committee on Defense and Security of the Oliy Majlis and the Research Institute of Criminology of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The document aims to enhance parliamentary oversight through the application of modern scientific and methodological approaches, improve the quality of lawmaking, and enhance comprehensive criminological research. A particular focus will be placed on determining the causes of crime in the region, forecasting crime trends, and enhancing public safety.
Moreover, the memorandum outlines the process for conducting expert analyses of reforms implemented under state programs, including the "Uzbekistan - 2030" strategy, as well as the process for establishing systematic monitoring of the implementation of the reforms.
The partnership is expected to contribute to more evidence-based decision-making and to implementing reforms in the sector more effectively.
