At the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of the Hungarian National Bureau of Investigation conducted a three-day workshop bringing together investigators, specialists in combating IT-related crimes, faculty members, and students.
The sessions focused on modern approaches to investigating cybercrime. International experts shared practical knowledge on cryptocurrency investigations, including monitoring transactions, tracing illicit financial flows through blockchain analysis, and identifying connections between digital wallets.
Participants also learned about open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques and the use of specialized tools such as Maltego and Maigret for analyzing online data, mapping digital relationships, and identifying individuals online.
Furthermore, the training covered key aspects of the digital environment, including the Clearnet, Deep Web, and Darknet, as well as methods used by criminals to conceal their identity. The experts explained investigative techniques for operating in these environments, identifying digital footprints, and addressing operational security challenges (OPSEC).
In addition, practical sessions covered digital forensics methods such as analyzing active processes, retrieving data from RAM through live forensics, creating disk images, restoring deleted files, and analysing web server logs to trace cyberattacks, including DDoS incidents.
The seminar provided participants with valuable insights into advanced international practices, strengthening their professional skills and fostering direct exchange of experience with leading foreign specialists.
