A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Senate Committee on Defense and Security of the Oliy Majlis and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This marked an important step toward strengthening collaboration in key areas.
Speaking at the event, Committee Chairman Kutbiddin Burkhanov and Head of the Academy Rustam Khatamov highlighted the significance of the memorandum in enhancing the quality of law-making, providing scientific and methodological support for parliamentary oversight, and improving law enforcement practices.
A number of priority areas were agreed upon by the parties on the same day, including strengthening the rule of law, increasing the transparency and openness of internal affairs institutions, addressing regional issues affecting the population, stabilizing the criminal situation, and improving early crime prevention mechanisms. Additionally, cooperation will focus on improving legislative processes, advancing educational quality, and other relevant areas.
As a means of ensuring effective implementation, it was agreed to establish joint working groups involving leading experts, specialists, and academics. It is intended that these groups will carry out joint research, conduct expert analysis, and regularly examine the results of their cooperation.
As part of the initiative, a “roadmap” outlining practical measures for 2026–2027 was also approved.
It was highlighted at the conclusion of the event that the partnership will not only enhance the effectiveness of the parliamentary activities, but also contribute to the consistent implementation of the priority objectives outlined in the "Uzbekistan - 2030" strategy.
