Recently, cases of individuals falsely claiming to be employees of internal affairs authorities or claiming to have connections within the system have been on the rise, offering illegal "services" to citizens in exchange for money.
According to the Main Department of Internal Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, several cases of this nature were identified in March this year.
On March 17, 2026, citizen M.A. was detained after allegedly promising to obtain “special combination state license plates” through supposed contacts in the Tashkent city internal affairs bodies, and receiving 1,800 US dollars from an applicant.
On March 24, 2026, citizen M.L. was apprehended for claiming to have connections within the system and accepting 6 million UZS in exchange for allegedly resolving a road traffic incident, avoiding liability, and removing a vehicle from an impound lot.
Criminal cases have been initiated against both individuals under Part 2 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In another incident, on March 21, citizen A.A. contacted a resident by phone, falsely introducing himself as an employee of a cybersecurity unit of the internal affairs bodies. Under the pretext of resolving a complaint, he fraudulently obtained 2.5 million UZS.
Investigations have revealed that these individuals are unaffiliated with any internal affairs bodies. By misleading citizens and exploiting the names of law enforcement agencies, they seek unlawful financial gain while damaging the reputation of the system.
Such actions are subject to strict legal liability in accordance with the Republic of Uzbekistan legislation, and decisive measures are being taken to prevent and suppress these offenses.
Citizens are strongly urged to remain cautious. If you encounter similar situations, please immediately contact the hotline “1102” or the Main Department of Internal Security at (71) 231-31-74. We guarantee the confidentiality of all requests.
Be aware, inform your family and friends, and do not fall victim to fraudsters.
