A meeting was held in Tashkent to discuss ways to strengthen public security and crime prevention

On March 13, an important meeting dedicated to strengthening public security, preventing crime, and ensuring a safe and stable environment for citizens was held in Tashkent.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov, the Mayor of Tashkent Shavkat Umurzakov, as well as senior officials from sectoral services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent City, and other law enforcement agencies.
During the meeting, participants discussed in detail the implementation of the presidential resolution intended to create a safe environment and strengthen public security in Tashkent by 2026. Work completed within the framework of this resolution, its results, and existing challenges were reviewed, and priority tasks were identified.
A key priority of state policy remains ensuring public safety in the capital and maintaining peace and stability for residents. Specifically, the importance of strengthening cooperation between authorities responsible for internal affairs, local authorities, and relevant organizations was emphasized. During the meeting, officials emphasized the importance of carefully analyzing the situation locally, defining specific tasks for each district and mahalla, and eliminating the root causes and contributing factors to the crime problem.
The meeting also focused on expanding the video surveillance infrastructure and making better use of modern information and communication technologies to enhance the public security system. The strengthening of coordination among emergency and public safety services was also identified as an important priority.
In addition, officials underlined the importance of ensuring the timely consideration of citizens’ appeals, protecting their rights and interests, and maintaining public order.
Special attention was given to preparations for maintaining security and public order during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr and the national holiday Navruz. The relevant authorities were instructed to strengthen safety measures in crowded areas and in locations where religious ceremonies and public celebrations are expected to take place.
The relevant agencies were also tasked with maintaining public order during mass events, strengthening preventative measures, and improving coordination among emergency services.
Following the meeting, officials received clear instructions in order to ensure the timely and effective execution of the assigned tasks, enhance coordination among responsible organizations, and further enhance the capital's safe and stable environment.
