A comprehensive end-of-year review of crime prevention and public safety efforts was conducted in Andijan region based on the results of an extensive inspection carried out by a working group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. An assessment of the effectiveness of crime prevention activities in mahallas with a high crime rate was conducted by the group in all cities and districts of the region.
As part of the visit, the working group reviewed preventive measures carried out by the Balikchi District Department of Internal Affairs. Particular attention was paid to initiatives aimed at stabilizing the criminal situation and preventing crimes and offenses at the mahalla level.
Special focus was placed on identifying factors contributing to crime among youth and minors. The relevant officials were instructed to conduct in-depth studies of existing problems, to provide employment opportunities to young people, and to address the root causes of juvenile delinquency.
During the inspection, the "Dustlik" border customs post connecting Andijan region with neighboring Kyrgyz Republic was also reviewed. Presentations were heard from leaders responsible for ensuring border security, strengthening cooperation with customs authorities, improving service efficiency, and enhancing conditions for citizens. Specific tasks were outlined to reinforce border control, prevent violations, and effectively utilize modern technical equipment.
As part of the visit, the Minister of Internal Affairs met with the family members of Senior Lieutenant Abdurasul Abduvaliev, who tragically passed away in the line of duty as a preventive inspector of the Khujaabad District Department of Internal Affairs. It was emphasized that his courage and selfless service are highly valued, and that continuous social support for his family and children will remain under the constant care of the state and internal affairs bodies.
The working group also familiarized itself with the activities of the “Central Farmers’ Market” in Kurgantepa district. Public order, the legality of trading activities, and price stability were assessed. The importance of strengthening inter-agency cooperation to ensure a safe, transparent, and orderly trading environment for the population was highlighted.
Security issues in Khanabad city bordering the Kyrgyz Republic were also reviewed. Specifically, responsible officials were instructed to enhance early crime prevention measures, prevent offenses in neighborhoods, and foster a safe social environment.
In addition, the activities of the Public Order Service of the Andijan Regional Department of Internal Affairs were assessed. The review covered measures to improve public safety and crime prevention. It also covered the level of professional training of canine units and mounted police services at the cynology center. Based on the findings, relevant proposals and recommendations were made to address shortcomings and further improve service performance.
The republican working group held a critical end-of-year meeting attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs, heads of ministry sectoral services, as well as regional, district, and city internal affairs personnel. The meeting included a comprehensive analysis of the performance of the Andijan region's internal affairs bodies, including operational effectiveness, personnel training, service discipline, and public safety efforts.
At the meeting, a number of employees who demonstrated high professional results and earned recognition from the public and their colleagues were duly rewarded with ministerial orders. Among them were the Head of the Bulokbashi District Department of Internal Affairs, a senior inspector of the Road Traffic Safety Group of Khanabad City, the Head of the Forensics Center of the Andijan Regional Department of Internal Affairs, a senior inspector of the Andijan City Internal Affairs Department, the public order group of the Asaka District Department of Internal Affairs, and an inspector of the Patrol and Post Service.
Furthermore, several leaders and employees were disciplined for serious shortcomings identified during their service activities.
During the meeting, reports from responsible officials were heard, proposals were discussed, and concrete measures were defined to eliminate identified deficiencies and ensure improved performance in the near future.
