A group of individuals residing in Karakalpakstan were granted Uzbek citizenship

In accordance with a Presidential Decree, 22 individuals permanently residing in the Republic of Karakalpakstan have been granted citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
A formal ceremony to present the citizenship documents was held with the participation of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, F. Ermanov, and the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Colonel Bakhtiyar Torebekov. The decision was adopted in full compliance with national legislation. Particular attention was paid to the protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as to strengthening the legal status of formerly stateless persons.
After acquiring citizenship, new citizens are able to take full advantage of their rights, participate actively in public and social life, pursue employment and education, and enjoy the benefits of social protection provided by the government.
