Conclusion of the 2nd Meeting of the Interpol Working Group on the “WATCHMAKER” Project for Central Asian Countries and Georgia

The second meeting of Interpol's Working Group on the "WATCHMAKER" Project, held over three days in Tashkent, has been successfully concluded. This significant event was organized by the General Secretariat of Interpol and coordinated by the Interpol National Central Bureau in Uzbekistan. It brought together representatives of key government ministries and departments from Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, all of whom are engaged in efforts to detect improvised explosive devices and combat chemical threats.
The meeting was well-attended by officials from various sectors of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, the National Guard, and the Fire Brigade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Its primary objective was to enhance participants’ understanding and utilization of Interpol databases, data management systems, and specialized tools designed for addressing incidents involving chemicals and explosives. Participants also exchanged insights regarding Interpol’s ongoing initiatives to counter the global threats posed by chemical and explosive weapons. Moreover, delegates had the opportunity to present and discuss existing capabilities essential to maintaining national and international security.
The gathering concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of Uzbekistan's security capabilities and regional cooperation. This collaborative effort shows our commitment to strengthening international partnerships in the fight against chemical and explosive threats on a global scale.
