The Head of State notably highlighted the alarming rise in road accidents involving minors and voiced concerns regarding the increase in vehicle rentals for schoolchildren in the region, particularly in Namangan. This trend has unfortunately led to numerous injuries and death incidents among youth. This has prompted calls for a more proactive approach by local leaders to uphold the rule of law.
A working group under the leadership of the Minister of Internal Affairs is implementing a series of preventive measures in the Namangan region in order to address these pressing issues. Specifically, the focus is on curbing violations and criminal activities, reducing traffic accidents, particularly among minors, and eliminating the root causes of these incidents.
In a comprehensive road safety campaign conducted across the region, 3,208 traffic violations were identified, including 127 instances in which minors were operating vehicles unlawfully. Moreover, 49 violations were recorded involving cyclists and moped users. Through monitoring on the Telegram social network, 72 vehicles rented in contravention of local legislation were also identified and impounded.
A number of actions have been taken in response to these violations, including educational outreach to minors and their parents. The safety measures have been further reinforced during events such as the "Last Bell" celebrations across all schools and secondary specialized educational institutions, as well as preparations for the upcoming "64th International Flower Festival" set to begin on May 25 in Namangan.
A critical follow-up meeting was held with the participation of the republican working group, regional internal affairs departments, and heads of city and district internal affairs departments to assess recent developments in the region. It has been noted with concern that crime rates have risen significantly over the last four months, while crime detection has been relatively slow. It has been strongly criticized that high-crime mahallas are prevalent in the districts of Namangan, Yangi Namangan, Chust, and Yangikurgan.
As a result of these challenges, disciplinary action has been taken against officials who have failed to fulfill their duties. A renewed call for commitment and initiative was issued to all leaders, emphasizing the need for a focused approach to their responsibilities.
As a way to enhance the effectiveness of security services, guidance was issued to replicate successful practices observed in "Chust." Furthermore, specific instructions were provided to responsible leaders to expedite efforts in ensuring peace and order in the region and to cultivate crime-free mahallas and safe roadways for all citizens.
