A meeting dedicated to the implementation of the “Safe Mahalla” concept was held in Surkhandarya region

A report meeting was held under the leadership of Lieutenant General Pulat Bobojonov, Minister of Internal Affairs responsible for the Surkhandarya region, to ensure the implementation of the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan regarding further improving the effectiveness of the system for creating a safe environment in the mahallas of the republic by 2025 and early prevention of crimes.
The event was attended by the regional governor Ulugbek Kasimov, heads of all district and city sectors, heads of sectoral services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, heads of the National Guard, the Emergency Situations Department, law enforcement agencies and military organizations, partner organizations, as well as groups of mahalla seven.
The importance of improving the effectiveness of the system for creating a safe environment and preventing crimes from occurring early remains a pressing issue today. In the decision of the head of state, specific tasks for this year are defined, and strict controls over their implementation are established.
A joint interdepartmental coordinating working group has been established at the republic level. Its structure has been determined for the Surkhandarya region based on the requirements of the decision. The amount of crime prevention work to be performed in each district and city section has been determined. "Roadmaps" have been approved for 724 existing mahallas in the region, and sector leaders have been assigned to all 95 mahallas in the "red" category.
Considering the requirements of the decision, it has been decided that the results of the work carried out will be discussed with the Minister of Internal Affairs every month, with the Prosecutor General's Office every quarter, and with the Prime Minister every half year.
During the visit of the working group, to create a model of the Digital Safe Mahalla concept in the Alpomish mahalla of Termez city, the "Safe City" center conducted a study. In addition, 20 face recognition, 3 traffic and 3 license plate recognition intelligent cameras were installed at the entrances and exits of the area, in front of bus stops and schools and integrated into the office of the prevention inspector and the Safe City platform.
The task was given to stabilize the criminogenic situation in the mahallas of Surkhandarya region and organize a system of early crime prevention based on new approaches, for example, to create models of "Safe and Digital Mahalla" in Termez district, "Exemplary Safe Street" in Termez city and Sariosiyo district, "Safe Child" and "Returning Persons on Probation and Preventive Account to a Healthy Lifestyle" in Denov and Sherabod districts, "Safe Market" in Angor district, "Safe Station" in Denov district, and "Early Prevention of Crime among Women" in Termez and Jarkurgan districts.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs was tasked with establishing the positions of junior prevention inspectors, migration prevention units, administrative operational groups, and chief prevention inspectors, as well as forming the relevant staff units. To organise the work in this process, it was directed to utilise the model of the project "House of Law and Order," which is planned to be established in the "Yangishahar" mahalla of Kumkurgan district.
During the meeting, the information of the responsible persons was heard, proposals were considered, and measures were determined to eliminate the identified shortcomings.
