A delegation led by Askat Egemberdiev, Chairman of the Penitentiary Service under the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic, visited our country and became acquainted with the activities of the Department of Penal Correction.
The reforms implemented in our country in many areas, including efforts to ensure human rights, prevent crimes, and ensure the well-being of the population, are gaining the recognition of the peoples of the world. Our ties of brotherhood, friendship, and cooperation with neighbouring countries are strengthening. Cooperation in the areas of economy, culture, art, education, and other areas will play a major role in establishing the national image on the world stage. The procedure for enforcing punishment is well established within internal affairs bodies, particularly within the system of executing punishments.
Last year, the Belarusian delegation visited the Department of Penal Correction under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Our guests learned about the work done in the field and appreciated it very much. On June 2-6 of this year, a delegation led by Askat Egemberdiev, the head of the Penitentiary Service under the Ministry of Justice of the neighbouring Kyrgyz Republic, visited our country. The delegation learned about the activities of the Department of Penal Correction. The delegation members were introduced to the opportunities created in the new Department building, duty station, sports halls, library, kitchen, physical and combat training room and other conditions.
At the meeting held in the department's meeting hall, Colonel Rustam Tursunov, head of the Department of Penal Correction, spoke with the guests and provided information regarding issues such as ensuring human rights in our country, teaching useful skills to prisoners, and preparing them for release. Additionally, horticulture and animal husbandry were discussed.
The guests then visited Tarbiya Colony No.24, located in the First Regional District, where they observed conditions for minors, a school branch under the institution, and a vocational training center. It was noted that the work done in the institution, the spiritual and educational activities, the science, and the professions were given high priority.
The delegation also visited Manzil Colony No. 42 of the First Regional District and learned about production activities. Following a discussion with the institution's heads, they expressed their appreciation for the work being accomplished in areas such as the master-apprentice tradition, tailoring workshops, animal husbandry, and horticulture. A special focus was placed on modern technologies, cattle breeding, convict employment, and conditions on the livestock farm.
During the visit, they met Penal Correction Colony No. 13 of the First Regional District, Manzil colony No. 38 located in the Samarkand region of the Third Regional District. Service activity, employee experience, and work related to prisoner education were recognized.
During the visit, the delegation visited holy places, historical monuments and other noteworthy complexes of our country. In particular, in the "Victory Park" in our capital, they got acquainted with exhibits depicting the days our country went through in the turbulent years, pictures depicting Uzbekistan's contribution to victory, and other exhibitions. In the Samarkand region, they visited notable objects such as "Shahi Zinda", "Guri Amir", "Bibikhanim" mausoleum, "Ulugbek Observatory", "Bakiy Samarkand" and had the opportunity to get acquainted with our ancient values, customs and traditions.
Following the event, the delegation members discussed the work done in the Penitentiary system and future plans and shared their experiences. Further, they agreed to strengthen their cooperation in areas important for the efficiency of service delivery, including prisoner education, crime prevention, and improving the experience of employees. Representatives of the two countries signed a memorandum on the same topic.
