Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Karakalpakstan reviews 2025 results and sets priorities for 2026

A summary meeting was held within the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Karakalpakstan to review the results of activities over the past year and to identify priority tasks for 2026. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads of the Ministry's sectoral services, officials from city and district internal affairs bodies, and staff.
During the meeting, a comprehensive analysis was conducted of the implementation of the Head of State’s decisions aimed at creating a safe environment in mahallas and increasing the effectiveness of early crime prevention. Further measures were outlined in order to introduce more targeted and systematic approaches in this area.
Due to the declaration of 2026 as the "Year of Mahalla Development and Social Advancement" in Uzbekistan, specific action plans were developed to consolidate positive achievements and strengthen cooperation between internal affairs agencies, law enforcement agencies, and partner institutions.
The meeting also addressed the proposal to designate 2026 within the internal affairs system as the “Year of Intensifying the Fight against Information Technology Crimes.” In this regard, concrete tasks were set to enhance the use of modern digital technologies in combating cybercrime, improve the training of specialized personnel, and increase the personal accountability of leaders.
Special attention was given to ensuring the implementation of the National Strategy for Combating Drug Abuse and Drug-Related Crime for 2024–2028, strengthening measures against illicit trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances, exposing organized drug crime, and enhancing preventive efforts among youth.
It was also discussed how to strengthen targeted preventive work with the population, particularly young people, in order to increase the effectiveness of efforts to counter extremism and terrorism.
Furthermore, issues related to improving the physical fitness and combat readiness of internal affairs officers, strengthening service discipline, conducting regular training sessions, and maintaining a high level of professional preparedness were reviewed.
The meeting emphasized the need to further improve the quality of work with public appeals, ensure their timely and objective consideration, resolve issues on the spot where possible, and enhance openness and transparency in this process.
In addition, priority tasks were set to conduct in-depth analyses of the causes and conditions of serious and especially serious crimes, eliminate factors contributing to criminal activity, strengthen preventive measures, and increase the responsibility of officials involved.
