Official Visit of the Uzbek Delegation to Turkey: Strategic Cooperation in Security and Law Enforcement enters a New Stage

A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan paid an official working visit to the Republic of Turkey aimed at further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The visit brought together senior representatives of Uzbekistan’s law enforcement and security agencies, led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
As part of the program, a delegation of Uzbek officials was welcomed by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Moreover, a high-level meeting was held within the framework of the "4+4" mechanism, with the participation of the ministers of foreign affairs, internal affairs, and defense of Uzbekistan and Turkey.
The agenda covered key priorities of bilateral cooperation, regional and global developments, and effective mechanisms for joint action to ensure sustainable development and prosperity based on strong and reliable security foundations.
During the visit, a bilateral meeting was held between the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov, and the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Ali Yerlikaya.
The sides comprehensively reviewed the current state of cooperation between their internal affairs bodies, assessed practical outcomes, and outlined future priorities.
During the negotiations, the parties emphasized the significant intensification of cooperation in combating transnational crime, ensuring public safety, strengthening rapid and effective information exchange, addressing migration-related issues, and introducing best practices and modern operational approaches. Additionally, a systematic cooperative effort has been established to enhance professional capacity, retrain, and advance the skills of law enforcement personnel.
The countering of cybercrime was a priority area of partnership. The sides addressed the importance of effective responses to digital threats, the use of advanced technologies for the detection of cyber crimes, the provision of specialized training in digital forensics, and the exchange of professional experience on a regular basis. Furthermore, discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism, illegal migration, human trafficking, and illicit drug trafficking.
Particular emphasis was placed on developing cooperation between the newly established Research Institute of Criminology under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and research centers affiliated with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Gendarmerie of the Republic of Turkey. The parties outlined prospects for joint scientific research, the exchange of analytical materials, and the organization of scientific and practical conferences.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on regulating migration processes, facilitating the return of citizens to their home countries, and implementing coordinated measures in this area.
As part of the official program, the Uzbek delegation was provided with a detailed overview of the activities of Turkish law enforcement agencies. During their visit to the Observation Center of the General Command of the Gendarmerie, the delegation reviewed modern public safety systems, emergency response mechanisms, and monitoring and management technologies.
A detailed analysis of the Turkish experience in training personnel, conducting scientific research, and introducing innovative educational approaches at the National Police Academy was also conducted.
Furthermore, a visit to a special police operations headquarters was organized, where the physical and tactical training of special units, the use of modern equipment, and the practice of conducting special operations were demonstrated.
In a friendly, open, and constructive environment, the visit marked a significant milestone in advancing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey to a qualitatively new level, strengthening mutual trust between internal affairs authorities, and enhancing coordinated joint efforts to ensure security and stability.
