As a result of the raid, it was found that a resident of a mahalla in Tashkent district — citizen Sh.A. — was illegally keeping a Siberian tiger cub and seven pythons in his private home.
For reference: In accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 736, “On measures to improve the order of keeping wild animals,” beginning January 1, 2025, individuals are prohibited from keeping many species of wild animals in captivity, as well as using them in circus performances, as specified in the approved list.
The animals have since been relocated to the Tashkent Zoo and the Prosecutor General’s Office is currently reviewing the legal implications of the case.
Inspections aimed at enforcing environmental legislation are continuing across other districts of Tashkent Region.
For reference: Earlier investigations revealed that over 80 mammals and birds from nine species, including four African lions, were being illegally held in captivity in private nurseries in Tashkent Region and the capital.
