The seminar brought together representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the Ministry of Water Resources, Uzsuvta’minot JSC, the academic faculty and students of Green University, as well as experts in the field of sustainable development.
Participants were introduced to the fundamental principles of the modern scientific school of strategizing. Professor Kvint emphasized that a strategy is a system for identifying and achieving long-term success, based on forecasting and a deep analysis of resource potential and temporal factors.
Particular attention in his address was devoted to the development of Uzbekistan’s new National Strategy for Environmental Protection and Water Resources. Professor Kvint stressed the importance of an integrated approach encompassing air quality, the condition of forest ecosystems, water security, biodiversity conservation and combating desertification. He noted that citizens’ well-being should be at the center of strategic transformation and that improving quality of life must serve as the primary indicator for the implementation of national environmental objectives.
Professor Irina Novikova delivered a lecture on strategic management of human resources in the implementation of water and environmental strategies. She highlighted the importance of strategic leadership, employee motivation and the formation of an organizational culture that fosters innovation and the effective execution of strategic goals.
The seminar also discussed prospects for expanding cooperation with Lomonosov Moscow State University in training professional strategists for Uzbekistan’s environmental sector, as well as integrating the methodology of strategizing into the work of government agencies and sectoral organizations.
“We are working very closely with the leadership of Uzbekistan. Several of our proposals have been approved by Presidential Decrees signed by Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev. We have developed a strategy for drinking water use, and we are now beginning work on Uzbekistan’s environmental and water strategies. This will be done on a broad scale—not only addressing water and ecological issues directly, but also encompassing environmental protection, air quality, forest resources and the fight against desertification,” noted Professor Kvint.
The seminar continued the ongoing professional dialogue on strategic management in the fields of ecology and water resources, providing participants with an opportunity to exchange experiences and approaches that will be valuable in the preparation and implementation of forthcoming national initiatives.
