During the operation, carried out in the "Bakhmal" mahalla of Gulistan District, Syrdarya Region, citizens A.T. and M.D. were apprehended while illegally fishing in the "Shurazak" Canal using a prohibited fishing device – an electric rod. They had caught 37 fish of various species, including 20 silver crucians, 3 Danube bleaks and 14 snakeheads and were detained while attempting to transport the catch on an inflatable boat.

An official report was prepared on the incident. The illegally caught fish and poaching equipment — one electric fishing rod, one inflatable boat, one battery, one pair of oars, one landing net and one lighting device — were confiscated pending legal assessment.

The offenders’ actions violated Articles 3 and 27 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Hunting and Hunting Economy", Articles 34 and 35 of the Law “On the Protection and Use of Wildlife”, as well as Article 49 of the Law “On Environmental Protection.” The damage caused to wildlife amounted to 865 BCV.

The collected case materials have been submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office of Syrdarya Region for legal review and appropriate action.
