The eco-championship will be contested in the category “Defender of Nature who planted the largest number of trees.” Information on venues will be published by the territorial offices of the Ministry of Ecology on their Telegram channels no later than the 1st day of the month in which the championship is held.
Special organizing commissions will be formed in the regions to determine championship sites — by 1 March for the spring round and by 1 November for the autumn round. Details on the tree species and quantities required for each venue will be compiled and provided to the landowners or site managers. Planting regulations (spacing between seedlings, dimensions of planting pits, etc.) will also be specified. Tree planting will take place from 08:00 to 12:00, and counting of planted trees and determination of winners will be completed by 15:00. The championship date may be adjusted in case of adverse weather conditions.
The eco-championship is held under the nationwide “Yashil makon” (Green Space) project and supports the goals set out in the Concept for Raising the Environmental Culture of the Population until 2030. The initiative aims to mitigate the effects of climate change through mass tree planting, promote environmental actions among the public—especially young people—foster a respectful attitude to nature as a national value, increase practical knowledge and skills in tree planting and develop ecological culture.
Seedlings planted in violation of the rules (for example, not at the required depth, without subsequent watering, etc.) will not be counted. Plantings assisted by third parties will also be excluded, except that one helper is permitted for participants with limited mobility.
Winners will be announced on the championship day and awarded a cash prize of 3 million sums, a winner’s diploma and valuable gifts.
In line with the Concept for Raising the Environmental Culture of the Population until 2030, this competition within the "Yashil makon" project contributes to popularising tree planting, informing the public about the benefits of green spaces, promoting tree planting as a national tradition, improving know-how in greening, fostering ecological culture and supporting volunteer initiatives for nature conservation.
