In particular, new international airports have been built, bringing the total number to 18. Currently, seven regional international airports are being modernized to meet contemporary standards. In addition, in response to the growing flow of foreign tourists and recommendations from leading international experts and public stakeholders, a new international airport is under construction in Tashkent Region.
Today, 51 airlines from countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, the Republic of Korea, China, India, Malaysia, Turkey, Russia, Poland and others operate scheduled flights to Uzbekistan. The acquisition of 22 modern Boeing aircraft from the United States will help connect Uzbekistan with Southeast Asia, Europe, the United States and other markets, opening new opportunities for leisure and business travelers.
At the same time, domestic rail and road infrastructure are being actively upgraded. New comfortable electric trains and high-speed trains are being introduced, and electric buses are being deployed. Vehicle fleets and road infrastructure along tourist routes are being expanded to serve even the most remote regions of the country.
"The goal is to increase the number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan to 25 million by 2030. At present, the country welcomes over one million visitors each month. To reach this target, the monthly figure needs to rise to more than two million tourists. Reforms carried out under the leadership of the President — focused on developing transport infrastructure, expanding the number and capacity of airports, and increasing the availability of flights and hotels — are set to greatly enhance the country’s tourism infrastructure and make it possible to reach 25 million foreign visitors by 2030",- said Aziz Abdukhakimov, Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.
The reforms under way are aimed at creating a modern, convenient and safe transport system that will, without doubt, make Uzbekistan an even more comfortable and attractive destination for both domestic and international travelers.
