Illegal and Cruel Treatment of Falcons Causes Significant Damage to Nature

The Anti-Smuggling Department of the Tashkent Regional Customs Directorate, together with the Border Troops of the State Customs Service, conducted an operational raid in Bostanlyk District.

During the raid a man who had been under surveillance was detained while attempting to illegally cross the state border at the "Aktash" checkpoint. A search of his bag, carried out in the presence of witnesses, uncovered eight live falcons listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan.
Specialists from the Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Tashkent Region confirmed that the seized falcons are included in the Red Data Book of Uzbekistan, and assessed the damage to wildlife amounted to 4 billion 944 million sums.
An investigation by customs authorities is currently underway.
