During the raid on the section of the Syrdarya River passing through the Terakzor mahalla in Gulistan District, it was established that citizens I.D., B.Y., and I.D. used illegal fishing gear — an electric fishing rod and an inflatable rubber boat — to catch 36 fish of various species. Among them was one fish listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan — the Turkestan barbel.
As a result of this violation, the laws “On Hunting and Hunting Development,” “On Protection and Use of Wildlife” and “On Nature Protection” were breached. Damage to wildlife was assessed at 694 million 220 thousand sums.
During the raid, an official report was drawn up in accordance with the established procedure. The illegally caught 36 fish, one electric fishing rod, the inflatable boat, two batteries, a pair of oars, one fishing net and a flashlight used for night fishing were seized and placed in temporary storage pending legal assessment.
The case materials have been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office of Syrdarya Region for legal evaluation and further action.
For reference: Previously, individuals engaged in illegal fishing had already been detained in the Syrdarya River area. Raid operations continue.
