Official Opening Ceremony of the Central Asian Badminton Championships was held in Tashkent

The ceremony was attended by Wajid Ali Chaudhry, Chairman of the Asian Badminton Development Committee, Otabek Umarov,First Vice President the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, Adkham Ikramov, Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Aziz Abdukhakimov, Chairman of the Badminton Federation of Uzbekistan; Kongratbay Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation as well as distinguished international guests.
The event began with a parade of athletes from the seven participating countries — Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Iran and Mongolia — followed by the national anthems of each country.
In his remarks, Wajid Ali Chaudhry praised the high level of organization of the championship and expressed gratitude for the attention given to the development of badminton in Uzbekistan.
For his part, Minister Adkham Ikramov emphasized that the growth of badminton in Uzbekistan is the result of the priority given to sport in the New Uzbekistan:
“Badminton is a convenient sport in every respect — highly dynamic, strengthening both body and mind. That is why in recent years it has received serious attention. Hosting the Central Asian Championships in Tashkent has become an important step in this direction,” he noted.
Aziz Abdukhakimov highlighted that the current tournament, made possible by the reforms of the President of Uzbekistan, holds a special place in the sporting life of young people:
“The badminton championship is more than just a competition. It is an important platform that strengthens friendship among the youth of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan, Iran and Mongolia, encouraging them to engage in sport and to promote a healthy lifestyle. I am confident this championship will become a landmark event in your sporting careers,” he stressed.
The ceremony concluded with words of appreciation from Wajid Ali Chaudhry to the organizers of the tournament.
The festive program continued with performances by well-known artists and various shows. At the end of the ceremony, Wajid Ali Chaudhry and Aziz Abdukhakimov presented commemorative gifts to the tournament participants.
