For reference: in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 16 of 30 January 2025, On the State Program for the Implementation of the “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy in the Year of Environmental Protection and a "Green" Economy", the Agency for Expanding Forests and Green Areas and Combating Desertification under the Ministry of Ecology has developed roadmaps and launched practical activities since the beginning of the year.
In particular, to prevent soil erosion in desert, mountain, and foothill areas within the state forest fund of the republic, 44 projects have been prepared, under which 3,302 hectares of land have been allocated for the creation of protective forest plantations.
In addition, on the dried bed of the Aral Sea and in desert regions, seedlings and seeds of shrubs such as saxaul, Salsola and Calligonum have been planted and sown. In mountain and foothill areas, pistachio and almond trees are predominantly planted; in more humid soils, walnut, dog rose and apricot; and in irrigated areas, fast-growing species such as poplar, elm, paulownia and black poplar.
It should be noted that the creation of protective forest plantations takes into account the soil and climatic conditions of each region. According to experts, the survival rate of trees and shrubs directly depends on the quality of soil preparation. It is essential that land treatment be carried out during the designated seasons, and that planting and subsequent care of seedlings strictly follow agrotechnical standards.
At present, work on the establishment of protective forest plantations in the regions is ongoing.
