The event is organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and the Union of Artists of Uzbekistan.
This year, the Symposium will be aligned with the 20th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES COP-20), which will take place in Samarkand. The event will bring together artists from around the globe, serving as an important platform for the exchange of experience, cultural cooperation and the promotion of nature conservation.
More than 300 projects were submitted by 175 sculptors from 53 countries. By decision of the professional jury, 16 projects were approved for implementation in Samarkand, including works by 14 foreign and four Uzbek authors. The participants represent a wide geography spanning the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, including Oman, Iran, Turkey, India, the United Kingdom, Georgia, China, Japan and Uzbekistan.
The main theme of the symposium is “Our Planet – Our Home.” The focus will be on pressing issues of ecology, environmental protection, and the role of humanity in shaping a harmonious environment. In the selection process, the jury considered the high professional quality of the works, their adherence to the declared theme, and their suitability for exhibition in the format of public art aimed at a broad urban audience.
The selected projects are distinguished not only by their artistic value but also by their role as an important reminder of the need to preserve the planet, combining art with a socially significant message.
