Measures Taken Against Greenhouses Burning Rubber and Car Tires

Administrative penalties were imposed on all 40 greenhouses involved. Furthermore, lawsuits were filed in court seeking the temporary suspension of operations at 32 greenhouses that failed to meet environmental requirements.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, together with regional offices and other agencies, is continuously working to reduce the impact of industrial enterprises on air quality. In particular, this year 824 dust and gas treatment units were installed and upgraded at 195 enterprises. At the same time, administrative measures were taken in 91 cases of legal violations and the activities of 57 enterprises were temporarily suspended until the identified violations were rectified.
It is well known that during the autumn and winter period, as air temperatures drop, the demand of industrial enterprises — including the energy, metallurgy, construction and greenhouse sectors — for gas, fuel oil and coal increases significantly. This results in a sharp rise in atmospheric emissions. The burning of tires is especially hazardous, as they contain sulfur, hydrocarbons, heavy metals, mercury, cadmium, lead and other toxic elements. Their combustion releases dioxins, furans, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and other poisonous compounds that cause serious damage to the environment.
The Ministry of Ecology urges all enterprises to operate strictly in compliance with environmental standards. Remember: any activity that harms the environment entails liability in accordance with the law!
