Background: In line with the Presidential Resolution of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On additional measures to increase the level of access to drinking water supply and sewerage services for the population,” large-scale efforts are underway across the country to provide the population with safe drinking water and sanitation. The project planned for implementation in the Fergana region is part of this nationwide initiative.
It will cover seven districts of the region — Besharik, Buvayda, Uchkuprik, Baghdad, Altyaryk, Kuva and Kuvasay. Modern water supply networks will be built in these areas and existing infrastructure will be upgraded.
During the hearings, detailed information about the project was presented to the public, and residents voiced their proposals and comments. Particular attention was given to issues related to environmental impact, land allocation and potential resettlement. In conclusion, the project received public approval.
According to experts, the project’s implementation will expand access to safe drinking water, improve sanitary conditions, modernize sewerage systems and ensure environmental sustainability. It will also enhance the quality of life and promote healthier living standards for local residents.
