Turkestan Foxes Captured by Camera Trap

Turkestan foxes were captured by a camera trap installed in the Surkhan State Nature Reserve under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.

The Turkestan fox belongs to the family Canidae. Its body length ranges from 40 to 90 cm and the tail measures up to 60 cm. The body is elongated, and the legs are relatively short. A total of 11 fox species are known, distributed across Eurasia, Africa, North America and Australia. Two species are found in Uzbekistan.
For reference: the Surkhan State Nature Reserve was established on 8 September 1986 in the Sherabad district of the Surkhandarya region. At present, 194 species of vertebrates inhabit the reserve, including 26 species of mammals, 137 species of birds, 24 species of reptiles, 2 species of amphibians and 5 species of fish.
