The event is organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the Committee on Tourism, and the Kashkadarya regional administration (khokimiyat). It brings together more than one thousand young people from 14 regions of Uzbekistan, as well as guests from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
Ahead of the congress (qurultoy), a press conference was held to explain the significance of the event and how it differs from previous editions. A welcome parade followed under the motto “We are one team! Hello, Qurultoy!”, during which local and international delegations presented their regions through creative showcases reflecting national traditions and customs, the environmental situation and conservation challenges.
Each region also set up a national stand highlighting its environmental and tourism potential. Entries were evaluated by a jury.
For the first time in the history of the congress, a “TEDxQurultoy” project was presented, where young participants shared observations and proposals to address pressing environmental and tourism issues. The charter of the Central Asian Youth Association in the fields of tourism and ecology was also unveiled, and its chairs—representatives of Uzbekistan and other countries—were elected.
To promote environmental awareness among youth, a seminar was held with the participation of Deputy Minister of Ecology Jusipbek Kazbekov, Bakhrom Kholkhujaev, Head of Department at the Ministry and Charles Norman from the United Kingdom, an international expert at the National Center for Climate Change under the Ministry of Ecology. They shared experience in nature conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources.
The official opening ceremony of the qurultoy was inaugurated by Deputy Minister of Ecology Jussipbek Kazbekov and Kashkadarya Region Khokim Murodjon Azimov. In their remarks, they emphasized that the congress unites young people in the cause of protecting nature and noted that the number of eco-activists in the country is growing every year, contributing not only to environmental protection but also to tourism development.
During the ceremony, credentials were presented to the chairs of the Council of Young Tourism Ambassadors and the "Young Ecologists" movement.
The qurultoy will run through 16 August. The program includes seminars, intellectual games, project presentations, competitions and other activities designed to deepen knowledge, turn ideas into action and facilitate the exchange of experience.
Such congresses bring together local and international youth to advance ecology, environmental protection and tourism, encouraging active engagement, the implementation of initiatives, peer-to-peer learning and a spirit of friendship.
