The initiative is being implemented by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure compliance with the Laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Protection of Atmospheric Air" and "On Environmental Control".
Its main objective is to conduct state environmental monitoring of in-use motor vehicles, assess their environmental condition, and verify compliance with established standards for pollutant concentrations in exhaust emissions.
The first phase, held from 10 April to 10 May 2025, saw specialists inspect 251,858 vehicles using modern emissions-testing equipment. Violations of the established standards were detected in 2,222 vehicles (0.9% of the total inspected), with corrective measures taken in each case to bring emissions in line with requirements.
The second phase aims to maintain systematic efforts to improve air quality nationwide and to raise public awareness among vehicle owners about the importance of proper vehicle maintenance for environmental protection.
