To verify the information, the State Environmental Control Inspectorate of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, together with the Syrdarya Water Body Control Department, conducted an urgent inspection. As a result, individuals were detained at the site while fishing from an inflatable boat using prohibited gear — two monofilament nets, each 100 meters long.
By their actions, the offenders committed a gross violation of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Protection and Use of Wildlife” and, in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 80, caused damage to wildlife amounting to 6,798,000 sums.
Explanatory statements were taken from the offenders and an official report was drawn up. The illegally caught four fish of various species, along with the prohibited fishing gear (monofilament nets and inflatable boat), were seized and placed in temporary storage pending legal assessment. The collected materials have been forwarded to the relevant authorities.
Background:Earlier, individuals were detained for illegally fishing with electric shock devices and attempting to sell their catch at the “Chinaz Balyk Bozori” market. Those materials were also referred to the prosecutor’s office.
The Ministry of Ecology expresses its gratitude to vigilant citizens who promptly reported the violation and calls on all compatriots to remain alert and not indifferent to such cases.
