During the raid, it was discovered that three individuals — Kh.Sh., Sh.Zh., and V.M. — had illegally shot and killed two markhors (Capra falconeri) within the boundaries of the "Khatak" sector. These rare animals are listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan and the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The offenders were detained on-site with physical evidence in their possession.
According to Appendix 14 of the Resolution "On the regulation of the use of biological resources and the procedure for obtaining permits in the field of natural resource use", the environmental damage caused was estimated at 1.5 billion UZS. However, since the offense occurred within the territory of a protected nature reserve, the total amount of damage was tripled, resulting in a fine of 4.5 billion UZS.
All case materials have been forwarded to law enforcement authorities. A pre-investigation review is currently underway.
Important: Illegal hunting within the boundaries of protected natural areas in the Republic of Uzbekistan is punishable by law. In order to prevent such violations, anti-poaching operations will continue.
