The situation was promptly investigated on-site by specialists from the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change; the State Inspection for Supervision in Construction and Public Utilities under the Cabinet of Ministers; as well as representatives of other relevant agencies.
The inspection revealed that the water seen flowing from a 600 mm cast-iron pipe near the Charvak Reservoir observation platform (total volume: 2,006.0 million m³), located in the Navobod mahalla of Bostanlyk district, was irrigation water used by a local horticultural farm. Nearby, additional polypropylene pipes measuring 76 mm and 100 mm were found to contain electrical cables, not wastewater.
To ensure a thorough assessment, laboratories from the regional Department of Ecology and the territorial sanitary-epidemiological services were engaged. Water samples collected from the 600 mm pipe were analyzed, and initial chemical testing confirmed the absence of pollutants. The water quality fully complies with the sanitary standards outlined in SanPiN 0083-24.
The area is also equipped with the “Baqachol” wastewater collector—an 800 mm pipeline owned by JSC Chimgan-Chorbog Main Water Network—which provides centralized wastewater collection. This collector channels wastewater to treatment facilities in the city of Chirchik. Wastewater from 550 residential consumers (Category I), 4 public institutions (Category II), and 38 private legal entities (Category III) located near the reservoir is regularly discharged into this system under formal contractual agreements.
A complete perimeter inspection of the Charvak Reservoir found no evidence of wastewater discharge into the reservoir, nor any signs of contamination entering via inflowing streams or channels.
The investigation also confirmed that there are no factors currently posing a risk to the safety or technical condition of the reservoir’s hydraulic infrastructure.
In conclusion, the allegations regarding the discharge of wastewater into the Charvak Reservoir have not been substantiated. No violations were found, and the integrity of the reservoir remains secure.
