Over 120 agreements signed at Eco Expo Central Asia 2025

The exhibition brought together an unprecedented number of participants, including ministers and deputy ministers, heads of more than 30 international environmental organizations, around 300 foreign experts, representatives of 30 foreign diplomatic and consular missions, as well as over 400 professionals from the private sector, startups, and academia. Their diverse perspectives and innovative solutions were instrumental in the success of the event. In total, more than 5,000 people attended the event, reflecting a strong interest in the environmental agenda and the exhibition's significance for the entire region.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including the former President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Nyssanbayev, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan Nurmuhammet Jumashov, Secretary-General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Ivonne Higuero, Regional Director of the World Bank Tatiana Proskuryakova, Director General of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) Dr. Tarifa Alzaabi, CEO of Vision Invest Omar Al Midani, and Regional Director of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Central Asia E. Nakashidze.
A total of 101 booths were presented at the exhibition by national and international organizations, regional authorities and startups. The most outstanding displays received awards. Among the honored institutions from the Ministry of Ecology were the Center for State Ecological Expertise, Agency for Waste Management and Development of the Circular Economy, the Agency for afforestation, expansion of green areas and combating desertification, and the "Yashil Loyikha" Project Institute. International winners included the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA, UAE), and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Among the regions of Uzbekistan, the Samarkand and Navoi regions, as well as the Republic of Karakalpakstan, received recognition.
The key achievement of the exhibition was the signing of a remarkable 126 agreements and memorandums between Uzbek and international partners. These documents encompass a broad range of areas, from green design, waste reuse, and biodiversity protection to the implementation of innovative technologies in reforestation, water conservation, air quality monitoring and ecotourism.
Key agreements included:
–Launch of new urban sustainability projects in collaboration with GIZ (Germany)
–Forestry cooperation with companies from China, Bulgaria, and Latvia
–Implementation of innovative waste management and recycling solutions with companies from Kazakhstan, Korea, China and Europe
–Modernization of Uzbekistan’s hydrometeorological monitoring network
–Ecotourism and cultural heritage preservation projects with UNDP, the World Bank, and JICA
–Support for the national “Yashil Makon” (Green Space) reforestation initiative
–Regional projects in biotechnology, air filtration, sustainable water supply and energy efficiency
The exhibition also featured over 35 side events, including presentations of new programs by GIZ, UNDP, GCIP, and other international organizations. Among them was the launch of a €4 million grant project to support the sustainable development of the cities of Fergana, Namangan, Andijan, Margilan and Kokand.
Dozens of bilateral meetings with international partners were held, during which key issues such as climate resilience, biodiversity, waste management and the deployment of green technology were actively discussed.
Eco Expo Central Asia 2025 proved to be not only a showcase of advanced environmental technologies but also an effective platform for meaningful dialogue and practical cooperation. The agreements signed during the event laid a strong foundation for transitioning to an environmentally sustainable development model. They will further enhance Uzbekistan’s international image as a reliable and responsible partner in addressing global environmental and climate challenges.
