Ecological solutions for sustainable agriculture presented

The sessions brought together international and national experts to discuss the most relevant solutions in the field of ecological farming, safe handling of chemicals, preserving soil fertility and supporting small farmers. The events became an important platform for knowledge sharing and expanding cooperation in efforts to achieve the country's environmental goals.
On the first day, FAO international expert Stefan Robinson presented technical approaches to the safe management of hazardous chemicals. Jahongir Babajanov also shared international experience in the development of green agriculture in Europe and Central Asia. Malika Saparova spoke about the possibilities of smart farming technologies.
On the second day, FAO projects in Uzbekistan were presented. Mukhammadjon Kosimov, Aziz Nurbekov, Nariman Nishanov and Odina Nazarova explained in detail the developments carried out in their areas, their results and prospects.
Special attention was paid to five key areas of FAO activity in Uzbekistan:
– Reducing the use of pesticides with the support of the European Union;
– Implementation of conservative agricultural practices within the framework of the global initiatives FOLUR and CACILM 2;
– Combating land degradation and increasing soil fertility through the LDN project;
– Supporting small-scale farmers through the use of smart farming technologies.
– Developing sustainable forest management in mountain and valley regions through the SFM project.
The participants of the sessions noted the importance of integrating international experience into national priorities for sustainable development. According to the organizers, such events on the sidelines of Eco Expo Central Asia strengthen the dialogue between government agencies, international organizations and farmers, forming a solid foundation for the transition to green and climate-resilient agriculture in Uzbekistan.
